The Institute for Environmental Management and Spatial Planning (IGEAT) at ULB is conducting interdisciplinary applied and fundamental research in the fields of environment, territorial development and tourism. The IGEAT deals with their themes through a strong interweaving of human and social sciences on the one hand and natural sciences on the other, in an interdisciplinary and systemic way. The particularity of IGEAT 35 lies in the grouping of themes that cross environmental and social issues. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Vrije Universiteit Brussel<\/a> (FLOW)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Belgium – Co-applicant<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FLOW research group at the VUB is specialized in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy. It is part of the Department of Applied Mechanics (MECH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its research activities are focused on fluid and thermal systems, and covers various applications in the fields of energy and aerospace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, the FLOW group joined forces with the Aero-Thermo-Mechanics (ATM) group at ULB, which has similar activities, to form a new joint research group, BRITE<\/a>: Brussels Institute for Thermal-fluid systems and clean Energy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Resolia is a group of multidisciplinary experts specialised in thermal network engineering. We have a global vision of each project. Not only do we take into account all the technical aspects, but also the economic, social, environmental and legal ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resolia’s core mission is to facilitate the deployment of resilient, affordable, efficient and sustainable thermal energy networks.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anderlecht<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Anderlecht is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region. It has more than 120,000 inhabitants and is home to the \u00ab\u00a0La Roue\u00a0\u00bb district, which is one of the living labs of this project.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Its areas of activity cover the environment in the broadest sense, including the fight against climate change, the coordination of energy markets and the production of renewable energy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Arteria Technologies develops software to digitize decentralized energy systems with the purpose on efficient planning and operation. It is based on digital twin technology and is able to simulate even the most complex systems fast and in high precision.<\/p>\n<\/div>

FH Technikum Wien \u2013 University of Applied Science<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Renewable Energy team works with several PEDs from energy engineering and social perspectives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAS Technikum Wien has successfully carried out numerous research projects in the fields of positive energy districts implementation, user participation and development of suitable definition and assessment frameworks as well as regional energy communities in the last years. Main expertise is the analysis and development of suitable frameworks of climate-neutrality in the built environment as well as design, modelling, simulation and assessment of climate-neutral buildings and districts energy systems.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

e7 is a private research and consulting organisation working in the fields of energy efficiency, energy efficiency services and energy economics. The focus of e7 lies on specific questions and challenges connected with energy efficiency, use of RES and climate protection.<\/p>\n<\/div>

resources in subsidised housing.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Association for the Promotion of climate-neutral Kahlenbergerdorf is a non-governmental non-profit organisation of and for inhabitants of the district Kahlenbergerdorf, as part of the City of Vienna. This association is the institution to support the transition of existing mainly gas-based heating system to a zero-carbon energy system.<\/p>\n<\/div>
